In an effort to provide a flexible, efficient pharmacy management solution that supports users from prescription intake to point of sale, Pharmaserv developers are working hard to deliver many new system capabilities in the coming year. Highlights of upcoming releases include:

Release 7.1.0 – April 2014

e-Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) – Beginning with Release 7.1.0, Pharmaserv will be certified in accordance with federal regulations to ensure that EPCS prescriptions undergo proper authorization during the dispensing process. Highlights include:

  • Capability to send and receive controlled substance prescriptions via e-Prescribing, based on various state regulations
  • Ability to perform electronic refill requests for prescriptions containing CII through CV products
  • Certification with BrightLine – a DEA-sanctioned independent auditor – and Surescripts
  • Increased security features and auditing

Pharmaserv Supply Management – Release 7.1.0 will include improvements for item matching to reduce the number of unmatched items received on purchase order acknowledgements.

Auxiliary Label Preservation – Release 7.1.0 will have the capability to preserve Auxiliary Label data from one fill to the next, eliminating the need to recreate the Auxiliary Label for each fill.

Release 7.1.1 – June 2014

Sage Exchange Interface (Phase I) – Release 7.1.1 will include the Sage Exchange Interface to communicate between the POS application and the Sage Exchange Desktop application on the POS register.  Sage Exchange Desktop is an application that runs on each register/client and facilitates communication between the merchant and Sage Exchange. Highlights include:

  • Seamless credit card/FSA/debit card processing
  • Excludes Pharmaserv POS from PA-DSS certification concerns
  • Eliminates PC Charge from POS

New Signature Capture Device (Equinox 5300) – Sage Exchange will manage all signatures and will interface to the device. All signatures will be stored in the Pharmaserv database for retrieval by the pharmacy, as needed.

Release 7.2.0 – September 2014

User Interface Refresh – Beginning with Release 7.2.0, Pharmaserv will feature a fresh, up-to-date user interface. This interface will incorporate new colors and icons into the Pharmaserv and Rx Processing windows. No changes will be made to Pharmaserv POS or Chain Host.

Auto Refill – Release 7.2.0 will include that capability to send outbound notifications using features available in Refill TeleManager, including phone, text, and email messaging.

CoverMyMeds® Interface – Release 7.2.0 will interface with CoverMyMeds – a leading healthcare technology company that helps physicians and pharmacists process Prior Authorization and other insurance forms. The interface will be able to populate CoverMyMeds Prior Authorizations forms automatically with key claim and patient data. Click here for more information.

OneStop Generics Integration – Release 7.2.0 will have the capability to designate items in a pharmacy database as OneStop drugs and ensure compliance with the McKesson OneStop Generics® program. The streamlined integration of OneStop drugs will help pharmacies improve the profitability and efficiency of dispensing generic prescriptions.

Rx Transfer Preferences – Release 7.2.0 will provide users with the ability to manage the number of fills or entire prescription transfers as required by some state and federal regulations.

Rx Verification Window – Beginning with Release 7.2.0, the verification window previously available only through Rx Tracker will be available in Rx processing. The Rx Verification Window will include hardcopy scanned Rx, drug image, and Rx details. Note: The Rx Verification Window is not intended to replace Navigator Filling and Checking features.

Enhanced 835 Rx Processing – This functionality will be reconfigured for Release 7.2.0 to allow processing of 835 remittance advices from payers in Pharmaserv. This functionality will be similar to current Chain Host feature.

Taxable Selection by Item – Release 7.2.0 will allow the user to select taxable/non-taxable at the item level.

POS Receipt Barcode – In Release 7.2.0, the POS transaction number will be encoded on the receipt to allow for quicker, more efficient returns at the register.
